Ever wonder how mega music superstars become such icons? The ideals that embody a "superstar-in-the-making" of course include talent, the right team players, and financial backing, but there is more to the success of an act than just those fundamental elements
It also includes elements that make an act a household name, which as a whole is known as branding. Branding is something that contributes to the success of a band or solo artist. Sometimes it happens organically for a few lucky acts, but most of the time it is the result of a carefully crafted marketing plan
An act becomes a brand when just the mention of their name conjures up a certain image or picture in the minds of the masses. Some well-known examples include:

• Michael Jackson: white sequin glove, military inspired garments/jackets/costumes
• KISS: ominous makeup, black leather with spikes, platform boots
• Madonna: Marilyn Monroe influences, cone bras, many other reinventionsï'
• Johnny Cash: all black wardrobe
• Pearl Jam: flannel shirts
• Lady Gaga: outrageous head pieces and outfits/costumes

Aspiring acts typically come to their label as creative entrepreneurs with their own ideas of an image that sometimes needs a little work from either an independent stylist or someone on staff at the label who possesses this expertise. According to veteran Hollywood correspondent and author of Interview Tactics: How to Survive the Media Without Getting Clobbered!
The Insider's Guide to Giving a Killer Interview! Gayl Murphy, musical acts may not initially have a clear understanding of how far they can take their image or they may need assistance in expressing themselves through fashion. "These acts want to attract fans that resonate with them and remember them," says Murphy. "It's a business, and this is when it becomes a strategic marketing tactic.

Graphic artists design lots of things such as flyers, business cards, and websites - pretty much anything that can be designed, is typically created by a graphic artist. But not all designers are necessarily good at what they do. Just because a person went to design school and calls themselves a graphic designer doesn't necessarily make them a very good one
Many graphic designers don't even know they are horrible at design. Most graphic designers who are serious about becoming one of the great designers out there, should seriously consider joining a graphic design forum or group. This is primarily to seek other designers critiques and or approval. I advise having all of your work critiqued, let's just face it, sometimes it's hard to judge your own work
Having an outside source to critique you're work, is what a lot of the professional designers do and I seriously recommend it, if you want to stay on the path to becoming an award winning designer
A great way to get noticed and also start some healthy competition with your fellow graphic artist designing peer's, is to enroll in as many design contests as possible. Getting the word out is key to your success as a designer
Graphic artist design a lot of contest pieces and get paid as well in the process, who knows you could be the next big winner. If you're still attending a design school, there are a lot graphic artist design contest's; that offer free scholarships for graphic designers. Some colleges even offer awards upon graduation, these type of awards are great resume builders for graphic designers. Following all of these tips here will help you become an award winning graphic designer, but the best tip of all that I can give you, is to remember to never be afraid to be unique and always have an outside of the box mentality

Make-Up Artist Beauty Skin Care Consultant

Q: First, thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to share your insights. I know weekends are a busy time for you
A: The busiest. The beauty industry is not nine-to-five by any means. G&E Kouture spends its weekends at runway events, fashion shows, pageants, weddings, proms, and even backstage at off-Broadway theaters. It all happens on nights and weekends, but everyone knows that how it goes. We live for it

Q: You've built G&E into a successful skin care and beauty consulting business. What can you share about the journey?

A: Students at cosmetology school need to be willing to sacrifice their time to work up a clientele. I've lived in this area for years and rely heavily on my contacts to bring in new business. And I took on every job that came my way, some without pay, just to build my portfolio. If there was a special event in town, I was there to market my talentsA: I started while I was a student at the beauty academy, visiting salons and day spas, asking for freelance work. I picked up a few proms by posting flyers with photos of my work. Then a wedding here and there. I attended, and still do, every trade show, every fashion show, and traveled constantly between Washington D.C. and New York City. I am an active member of the Chamber of Commerce and attend as many of its networking events as possible
A: The challenge of coming up with different techniques and looks. Every person's look is so different that I can't help but get excited about the creativity involved. I get really energized seeing the look on someone's face when they look in the mirror after a makeover
